I needed a total Thyroidectomy for a Multinodular Goitre that had grown quite big and was causing compression symptoms. I spent time looking for the right surgeon which was Mr Kirkybott and I can say I was not disappointed. It truly pays to have the right person for the job. For someone who has never had an operation before, I wanted to know I was in the right hands. His personal website and hospital profiles provided extensive information for pre and post care and on his credentials as a specialist with this area. On meeting him at the consultation and pre surgery he was able to explain everything to me in layman terms. I was also very impressed with him having access to nerve machine to reduce vocal cord impairment and also he mentioned adding something extra to support my scar healing. At this point I thinks it is also important to mention his secretary too Suzannah Vaill , as she was also outstanding throughout, answering queries and supporting me. She works hard and deserves a massive pat on the back. They make a great team . For me now it’s about recovering and adjusting to a lifetime of medication. However I am feeling positive and happy as already feeling benefits of the procedure, so thanks to the support and treatment I received.

I did a lot of research to find a specialist hernia surgeon, not just a general surgeon, to repair my bilateral inguinal hernias. I found Mr Kirkby-Bott from this website both he and his colleague, Suzannah, did provide great care. I couldn't be more pleased at the consultancy, surgery and post-surgical outcome.

I am day two after thyroid partial removal of the gland, I was so happy with the service I received from the spire hospital in Southampton. Mr Kirby Bot was amazing from start to finish made me feel calm before my surgery and I felt I was in professional hands, my voice has not changed and I feel better already, amazing surgeon I would recommend the spire for any one going through this operation.

Mr Kirkby-Bott listened to all my concerns & reassured me concerning the surgery & gave me his thoughts on the best way forward for my situation and expectations on continuing my sporty lifestyle. He was caring & made me feel relaxed about the expected outcome. After 12 weeks I am I’d guess about 90% back to doing everything as before my hernia was discovered. The last 10% is really down to me not pushing too hard until 6 months have passed, but everything is generally all good. Many thanks, glad I made the decision.
